These images are taken after looking at Zed Nelson's work in which he gets very close up to some objects in his projects which highlight to the viewer certain details, because the picture just focuses on that one thing. I took this idea and did a few images that work like this for my project on the EDL. After a while photographing the EDL i began realising how many of them had tattoos, this then quickly became my focus for my section on close ups.
This tattoo is a very famous part of the EDL, because for someone to tattoo EDL to the back of their head shows how much they support the group and what it stands for. I really like this image as part of the project because it represents how strongly some people feel about the EDL to the viewer.
I thought these hands would also make another good close up, because I began noticing how many people had tattoos and supported the EDL. This might suggest a cultural normality that they are apart of in which a lot of them are covered in tattoos. After noticing this, all my close up images ended up being of tattoos.
This man had Celtic tattoo'd on the inside of his lip, this goes along with that a lot of the supporters are also keen football supporters, and the football hooligans started off the EDL.
This was another image of a tattoo, which was my main focus for the image, but for this one a took a few steeps back so the viewer would be able to relate the tattoo culture with also all of the the England flags and the EDL logo on the back of the the mans top in the distance.
