Because policing is such a big part of this event as it stops the EDL and UAF meeting together in which violence usually breaks out, I decided that I should document it for my project as well and put it in its own section.
These huge riot gates stop the two different parties meeting, which allows the event to carry on without any trouble.
This photograph and the following few show the only kick off I saw the whole day and it was started by this dunk man in grey who decided that the police van had hit him even though he was standing in the middle of the road. I then captured the events that happened after he began kicking off, in a journalistic style. This happened about 300 yards away from the EDL end point.
I like this image because it shows the man trying to tell the police his side of the story and why they are in the wrong and he's in the right.
This image shows the opposite to the last, in which the police officer is sternly letting him know that he is in the wrong, and if he doesn't stop making a scene he will be arrested for breaching the peace.
This image shows a young girl who is looking at the event from a distance, I like the focus in this image because it shows the scene but makes sure the viewers focus is set on this young girl who looks amused by the whole thing.
Not long after the previous image was taken and police woman tried grabbing the young girl, who is then captured above being pulled away by her mum in this very visible moment.
The dad of this girl has one last go at the police for doing what they just did, telling them how they should never try and grab an innocent 16 year old girl, let alone his daughter. I like this image because it shows a very strong stance from the father, with his finger pointed at the police to make them realise the error of their ways.
