Unite Against Fascism

This is the last section of my project which shows the portraits I took of the UAF supporters who appose the EDL members. I only took portraits of their event because there wasn't many of them so I didn't feel it was appropriate to capture the events that happened because there was nothing to capture. In hindsight I wish I photographed how little support the UAF had at this event because it could contrast that of the large support the EDL received. I think compared to the EDL portraits that I took, it shows how little support the UAF had because there is little people in the background of these images, it just looks like a few lone people standing against the large support of the EDL which was how it felt on the day.

These images use the same techniques as what I used for the EDL portraits, but because these subjects weren't doing anything it was easier to capture their portraits. This man represented 'Sikhs Against the English Defence League'.

All these images are very similar, in which the people taking part look quite bored, this can be seen in their facial expressions, which makes the photographs look like they've got no energy to them compared to the EDL portraits, this was because of the lack of support and numbers the UAF had.

Each of them had their own posters which said things like 'Smash the EDL and BNP', which lets the viewer see what group their from and what their views are. But as I've said previously, all of them look quite cold and bored, which makes this set of portraits look quite depressing for the UAF. With very little support and moral coming across clear within my photographs.
